The summary of Nagasaki, by Eric Faye, sounded really good, and the book got many awards, but I was really surprised by the whole thing. There was no end, really, and no resolution of anything. I think the book was originally written in French and based on a true story, which makes it interesting, and maybe life never truly has en ending either, definitely not happy endings. It was not bad, not good, just… interesting to listen to. And very short, only two hours. Someone who reviewed the French version of the book wrote « une cohabitation secrète entre deux solitudes. » Yep, that’s exactly what that story is: a man who lives alone and who finds out that a woman has been living in his house for months, without him noticing. We hear the story of how he discovered her and what happened next, and his point of view and hers, too, and that’s it. Intriguing story for sure.
