Trees

Pour changer un peu de la musique, je vous mets un poème de Joyce Kilmer, même si en général je n’aime pas beaucoup la poésie. Je trouve celui-ci simple et humble et lovely et j’aime beaucoup les arbres moi aussi!

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

  1. The picture you chose suits the poem perfectly. Concerning the text, it is lovely but, unfortunately, I prefer Mother Nature to God 🙂 .

      1. It can happen but according to my friend Gemini « Joyce Kilmer was a devout Roman Catholic who possessed a profound, central belief in God » 🙂 .

        1. I think poets know that everyone should be able to find a way to enjoy their poems and interpret them any way they want 🙂 But that’s just my opinion. Instead of Gemini, I strongly recommend you use good old Google to do searches, you are more likely to find a correct answer to your questions and you spend less energy (water, electricity, etc.) 🙂

            1. Yesterday, I should have written « I got this answer by Gemini without asking it an answer » but it might just be a lame excuse… By the way, do you know this French riddle from the last century? « Monsieur et Madame Kuzbidon ont un fils. Comment s’appelle-t-il? »

            2. So, I have an extension in my browser called Bye-bye AI, so I never have an AI response when I use Google, or you can also do this: if you want to do a search about cats, for example, you write « cats -AI » (cats minus AI) and you won’t get an AI answer. It’s much better 🙂
