L’année dernière, je suis allée en Irlande et j’ai absolument adoré ce pays. Je comprenais rarement ce que les gens me disais et il m’a fallu 2-3 jours pour m’habituer à conduire à gauche, mais j’adore la mer, et les paysages étaient sublimes. Je ne pense pas arriver un jour à visiter la Nouvelle Zélande, mais j’espère vraiment beaucoup pouvoir retourner en Irlande et peut-être même, qui sait, y prendre ma retraite.

Il y a bien longtemps avec deux autres jeunes fous comme moi et rencontrés pour l’occasion nous avons visité le Sud de l’Irlande via un Ferry comme il se doit pour des gars de Cherbourg. Ensuite vélo et retour par le pays de Galles… énorme souvenir, quasiment pas de touristes des paysages époustouflants, une impression étrange comme si nous visitions un pays décalé de 50 ans en arrière. je te souhaite d’y retourner, vraiment.

Actually, I don’t know what a virtual private network looks like but when I was learning English at the U3A in Namur, one of the sentences I met was the sentence: « I don’t know anybody with a boat ».

I don’t know anyone with a boat either 😉 A VPN is simply a button that I click on my computer and then all my internet (emails, searches, browsers, etc.) will look like it’s coming from another city or country. A lot of content is available only in certain countries, for example, stuff on Arte is only available in Europe. So if I want to watch Arte’s programs from Canada, I have to pretend I am currently located somewhere in Europe, and the VPN allows me to do that. And the rest of the time, for security reasons, I am pretending to be constantly moving around Canada. I have to be somewhere within Canada to be able to access my online bank account, for example, and all the stuff for work.

VPNs are not really illegal, a lot of people have one, and even the Canadian military uses VPNs sometimes. I AM afraid of big brother and that’s why I use one, to hide and confuse it. But some platforms, like Netflix, can detect them, so I can’t access Netflix.com, I can only access Netflix.ca (which I don’t because it’s stupid and expensive).

Merci pour ce partage. Nous avons regardé avec mon mari. Quand on me demande quels sont les pays que j’aimerais visiter, immanquablement je cite l’Irlande et le Canada des grands lacs… C’est aussi pour ça que j’aime autant les côtes de la Bretagne. Mais plus on vieillit et moins on reste aventureux, dans notre cas en tout cas…
